The J-League kicked off with multiple goal fiestas in Kawasaki and Osaka, some early-season sparks from FC Tokyo, Sanfrecce, and Kashiwa, then Yokohama, Fukuoka, and Kyoto stalling early on.
Gameweek two sees Kawasaki hopeful to keep their free-firing start alive at Kashiwa Reysol. Frontale will most likely field their original formidable 4-2-3-1 which won them the game against Grampus.
Kyoto Sanga will look for a lifeline against Urawa Reds after stumbling at the start, a textbook 2-0 loss at the hands of Okayama. Despite dominating the match on 67% possession they did not seem to find any early season linings.
Nagoya Grampus welcome Vissel Kobe to the Toyota Stadium, also looking for a consolation win after their 4-0 trashing at the hands of Kawasaki Frontale. The 3-4-3 formation not proving too effective as they did not create a single big chance, but managed eight shots to the hosts' 18.
Shimizu will hope to build on their 1-0 siege of Tokyo Verdy, facing Albirex Niigata. Midfield maestro Matheus Bueno may be on course to gaining more plaudits after going the whole game without being dispossessed and controlling the flow.
Yokohama entertain visitors Okayama after a narrow 1-0 loss to FC Tokyo. Although, their AFC Champions League game against Shanghai Port may mean some players will be rested during this J-League clash.
Two early victors clash in Osaka, as Cerezo will size up against Shonan Bellmare. The Osaka derby will have Cerezo wanting more, while Bellmare will only want to extend an early winning run.
1-0 victors FC Tokyo will host Machida Zelvia in a bid to enjoy a season better than the last. The newly induced 3-4-3 will most likely make a reappearance after its success against Yokohama.
Gamba Osaka will be facing off against Fukuoka after their intense loss to inter-city rivals Cerezo. Visitors Avispa Fukuoka will turn out eager after their narrow 1-0 loss at home to Reysol.
All while Tokyo Verdy travel to Kashiwa, to attempt to turn the tide on their slow start to the season.
