"Doi ran into a position where he could slot the ball in for the third goal. Of course, his first professional goal!" - @fctokisu_39 on X
17-year-old midfielder Yuji Doi was given a chance by Shimizu S-Pulse in the J-League Cup whilst the international break kept the J1 at a halt.
And who else was it to put the final nail in the coffin as S-Pulse coasted to a textbook 3-1 win over SC Sagamihara to progress to the next round.
The young Doi followed up an earlier own-goal and a strike from Kengo Kitazume to ensure the win, and has in turn, bagged his first ever senior goal.
This could be the beginning of a wonderful story for the young player, as Shimizu S-Pulse are known to be a club to give chances to their youth.
Congratulations and we hope to see you on the J1 League stage soon!
Omg! 😱
